Yoboud Family | Oceanside Family Photographer

2017 was the year of beach sessions for me, that's for sure. I spent a lot of time along the coast visiting all of our San Diego beaches, and I can't even describe how happy that makes me. When my girl Julia and I began discussing location ideas for her family session, she mentioned the beach and I was thrilled. Some might think a family session at the Oceanside Pier is overdone, but how can it be when each family photographed there is completely unique? Frankly, the leading lines of the pier, gorgeous sunlight peeking through the beams from the horizon, and reflections of it all on the wet sand only enhance their photos.

Now about this family. I actually know Julia from Existence Church through the MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group. Because of this group, I have met a lot of incredible women who are in the same phase of life I'm in. We are in the trenches of motherhood together where we build each other up when we feel like we're failing. We are also there to celebrate the wins in life while also recognizing our own special uniqueness.

As moms, we all bring different things to the table and Julia is no exception. Julia is the type of girl you feel safe around from the start. She is warm, always smiling, and keeps it real. I love that she can open up in front of a room full of women and lead with confidence. Her friends will all agree, trust me. Friends would also agree that Julia and Regis made two handsome boys. They are funny, sweet, and out-going. I knew we were going to have a great time together. Aside from what I love capturing, I asked Julia to tell me when she personally loves in a family session, and this is what she had to say:

"I love seeing how carefree and wild my boys are when they are outdoors. They remind me to have fun and be in the moment, even if that means being a sandy mess!"

Authentic, heart-felt images are what I feel we captured. This was made possible by a family willing to let go and enjoy the moment. Have a look for yourself and let me know what you think!

2017 was the year of beach sessions while 2016 was the year for "rustic/woodsy" locations. I wonder what 2018 will bring!?
